An exciting restoration initiative right at the Tribal School!
ȾIKEL (Maber Flats) was once prized as a gathering place for basketry and rope-making materials.
The beautiful SX̱OLE (willow) is an important plant material for the construction of the traditional W̱SÁNEĆ reefnet.
In honour of W̱SÁNEĆ wetlands, we are working with Dr. Nick Claxton (Chief, Tsawout First nation) and the Living Lab Project at the University of Victoria to restore a wetland area right here on the Tribal School grounds!
